Hulu Revives “King of the Hill,” Revisiting Texas Life
“King of the Hill,” Fox’s animated sitcom that offered a rare glimpse into Texas culture,is returning. Hulu is set to revive the series created by Mike Judge, known for its affectionate yet humorous portrayal of the Lone Star State.
The new season, consisting of 10 episodes, will find the Hill family navigating new phases of their lives. Hank and Peggy hill are now retired after years of working in Saudi Arabia, while Bobby is a 21-year-old chef in Dallas.
Judge and Greg Daniels, the original show’s co-creators, are back for the reboot. Judge will once again voice Hank Hill. Saladin Patterson, a veteran of “Bernie Mac,” joins as the new showrunner.
A significant change involves the voice of Dale Gribble. johnny Hardwick, who voiced the character in the original series, died in November 2023. Toby Huss will take over the role. Hardwick completed voice work for six episodes before his death.
The “King of the Hill” reboot premieres Aug. 4 on Hulu.
