Jonathan Joss, the voice actor best known for his role as john redcorn on “King of the Hill,” died Sunday in what his husband describes as a hate crime. Tristan Kern de Gonzales issued a statement detailing the tragic events that led to the shooting.
According to de Gonzales, the couple was checking mail at the site of their former home, which had previously been destroyed by arson after years of threats. They discovered a dog’s skull and harness, causing them notable emotional distress. A man, later identified as sigfredo Alvarez-Cega, approached them and began yelling homophobic slurs before firing a gun.
Alvarez-cega was arrested and charged with murder.The death of Jonathan Joss, a prominent voice in the entertainment industry, has sparked outrage and renewed calls for action against hate crimes.
Joss also played Chief Ken Hotate on “Parks and Recreation.” He had recorded lines for the upcoming “King of the Hill” revival on Hulu.
“Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get… He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other,” de Gonzales saeid.
