Gospel music icon Kirk Franklin has entered a major career milestone by partnering with Uptown Records, uniting his Fo Yo Soul Entertainment label and TRIBL Music Group with the brand, according to reports published by Vibe and the Gospel Music Association on September 8 and September 10, 2026. The collaboration arrives as Uptown Records celebrates its 40th anniversary and continues its ongoing industry resurgence.
Celebrating the Partnership With New Music
To mark the launch of the partnership, Franklin unveiled the official music video for his single Thank You For Everything,
which features fellow gospel legend Karen Clark Sheard of the Clark Sisters, according to Vibe. The visual project made its broadcast debut live on BET Her.

Uptown Records’ Cultural Legacy and Current Roster
Founded in 1986 by the late music executive Andre Harrell, Uptown Records shaped the sound of contemporary Black music culture during the late 1980s and 1990s, bridging hip-hop grit and R&B soul while popularizing the New Jack Swing era, according to Vibe. The label launched the careers of acts including Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D & The Boyz, Guy, Al B. Sure!, and Christopher Williams. The label’s modern roster pairs Franklin’s catalog with a diverse lineup of current acts. Alongside Franklin, the current Uptown Records roster includes Yung Miami, G Herbo, Trap Dickey, ATL Jacob, and 9B Meechie, according to Vibe.
