The fintech firm, recognized ‍for its interest-free installment payment options, announced Wednesday ⁢it would soon offer a mobile plan with unlimited text, talk, and 5G data for $40 a month. The service will operate on‍ AT&T’s network.

The company has opened a waitlist for interested customers. This move positions Klarna ‍alongside other consumer brands and⁣ even celebrities who have ventured into the mobile ⁢phone market.

Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski said the company has been‍ focused on saving consumers money and‍ reducing⁤ financial stress for‍ over 20 years.⁤ He added that offering mobile plans is a step further in building ⁣their “neobank” services.

As growth slows in the buy now, pay later sector, Klarna and similar companies are seeking new avenues for expansion. These firms are‍ increasingly looking to evolve into digital “neobanks,” providing alternatives to traditional banking with debit cards,credit cards,and other financial services.
