A Family’s Story
During the meeting in the Staroshaygovsky district, three couples represented the community. One couple shared their experiences raising three sons.
We live well, we try to cope with everything ourselves, we don’t expect help from anyone,
says the mother. Currently, with their third child only 5 months old, the father is the sole provider, working in another region. However, he plans to return to work closer to home after his wife’s maternity leave, citing the challenges of living far from family.
The couple’s meeting is described as a chance encounter. The mother frequently visited her sister at the organization where the father worked.
He was instantly drawn to her. He initiated contact by asking her to read a book, though this was merely a pretext. He never read the book, but it marked the beginning of their relationship, which blossomed into marriage.
A Legacy of Teaching
The mother is a teacher with five years of experience teaching mathematics at the Staroshigovsky complete school, her alma mater.
I always knew that I would be a teacher, and never even imagined myself in another profession,
she says. She comes from a family of educators with a combined 136 years of experience. Her mother and three aunts were teachers. She spent much of her childhood at the school, observing her mother’s lessons, which she believes fostered her own desire to teach.
She emphasizes that teaching is a demanding profession that attracts dedicated individuals.
Of course, it is very arduous to work with children, but you get a very large charge of energy and vigor from them. Therefore, I believe that the teacher is a calling.
Currently on maternity leave, she cares for her youngest child while also attending to her older sons: a second-grader and a kindergartner who will soon enter first grade.
The second-grader is an athlete who enjoys football. The 6-year-old is creatively inclined and loves to sing. The parents plan to enroll him in music school for piano lessons.
Home Improvement
After their wedding, the couple initially lived in a small apartment. As their family grew, they sought more space. In 2021, they secured a rural mortgage, using maternity capital for the down payment and financing the rest at a 2.7% annual interest rate.
We acquired a small, old house, however, it is located in the very center of the village,
the mother explains. 15 acres of land were attached to him, on which we later defeated the garden. The husband entirely made repairs with his own hands, both internal and external decoration.
The renovation took a year, and in 2022, the family moved into their spacious home, which measures over 120 square meters.
Service and Family
in 2022, the father served in a special military operation. His wife recalls the challenges of his absence.
Once my husband told me that he was leaving for a special military operation. In general, from an early age, he dreamed of connecting his life with a military specialty, but this did not work out for a number of reasons. He underwent military service in the army and always believed that every real man should defend his homeland,
she says.Alexei is a man of words. Leaving on his own,he told me to wait,he will definitely return, and we will have a daughter.
He returned, and they had another son.
Values and Education
People frequently enough ask how they raise such well-behaved children. Their secret is simple: they believe in their children and lead by example. The children learn by observing their parents’ actions.
In our family, it was instituted in our family: sons look at dad and do everyone like him,
the mother adds.Such as, they see how he relates to his mother or to me, his wife, and understand that a woman needs to respect, concede and help her, give flowers to important dates. And this applies not only to attitude towards a woman, but also of the other areas of life.
Honoring the Past
The family instills patriotism and love for their homeland by honoring traditions and family history. Recently, the older children participated in a photo project dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The project encourages participants to share stories of their ancestors. The family shared the story of their great-great-grandfather, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War who began his service near Moscow and ended it in Berlin. He received numerous awards for his bravery and service.
