Authorities at RS Bhayangkara Banjarmasin are collecting DNA samples from the remaining remains to match against family ante-mortem data.
DNA Sampling and Identification Process at RS Bhayangkara
Karodokpol Pusdokkes Polri Brigjen dr Sumy Hastry Purwanti stated on September 25, 2026, that forensic teams are utilizing primary, secondary, and family ante-mortem data to establish identities. Officials confirmed that 42 body bags were evacuated to RS Bhayangkara Banjarmasin following the maritime disaster involving KM Virgo Transport 8.
Out of the total recovery, 22 body bags still require DNA profiling. According to police officials, these remaining samples will be transferred to the DVI Mabes Polri to expedite the matching process once family ante-mortem records are complete.
