Kneecap Announces Live Broadcast and Brooklyn Screening Amidst Terrorism Charge

Irish rap trio Kneecap has announced a live broadcast and screening event on October 10, at 9 p.m. EST (1 a.m.GMT), amidst ongoing legal battles. The group faces terrorism charges stemming from an incident last November.

Announcing the show on X (formerly Twitter), Kneecap wrote:

The band added, “Join us on October 10th for much more than a gig…it is a moment for us all to stand together in defiance and solidarity. We will broadcast across the world at 9pm EST (6pm PST) on October 10th. It will be fully LIVE and uncensored by those who wish to silence us.”
The Kings Theatre event will feature a live broadcast on a giant screen, a one-off screen-printed poster for every ticket holder, and a special merchandise stand, and also a yet to be announced supporting act.
Background: Terrorism charges and Legal Defense
Friend (Real Name Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh) first appeared in court in June, when he was released on unconditional bail.
The terrorism charges were leveled against him in may for allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag onstage at a London show last November. The rapper is yet to enter a plea, but has denied any wrongdoing.
His lawyers are seeking to dismiss the case, arguing that the terror charge was brought outside the six-month time limit. Prosecutors maintain that the charge was filed within the required timeframe.
Responding to the terror charge in May, Kneecap denied the offence and vowed to “vehemently defend ourselves.” “This is political policing,” they wrote. “This is a carnival of distraction. We are not the story. Genocide is.”
Kneecap’s Message: Focus on Palestine
Speaking outside the court following the August 20 hearing, Chara thanked supporters and emphasized the broader context of the case. “We know this story is more than just about me. Its more than Kneecap; this is a story about Palestine and us as a distraction from the real story,” he stated.
“We know, unfortunately, this story will end up in the media today, while israel commits genocide at the same time. So, everybody, continue to speak about Palestine, free Palestine. Thank you all for coming.”
Recent Performances and Political Statements
Kneecap have since returned to the stage for a defiant set at Rock en Seinewhere pro-Israel protestors attempted to disrupt their performance.
Earlier in august, the trio led chants of “fuck KKR” at Øya Festival 2025 before condemning the “hate-filled” Hungarian Prime Minister in a video broadcast at Sziget in Budapest.
