Belfast hip-hop trio Kneecap is set to perform their largest English show to date at London’s OVO Wembley Arena on Sept. 18. The declaration follows their recent performance at London’s Wide Awake festival.
Tickets for the 12,500-capacity Wembley Arena show go on presale June 4 at 10 a.m. BST,with general sale starting June 6 at 10 a.m. BST.
The group gained attention after their Coachella performances in April,where they voiced support for palestine. The message led to a split with their booking agent and criticism from public figures.
In late May, member Mo Chara, also known as Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, was charged with a terror offense related to past videos allegedly showing support for Hamas and Hezbollah. Ó hAnnaidh denies the charge, calling it a distraction from the Gaza crisis. He is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on June 18.
The controversy resulted in canceled shows in Germany and removals from the Eden Session lineup in Cornwall and TRNSMT in Glasgow. Though, replacement gigs in nearby cities quickly sold out.
