Former Taipei Mayor Ko Wenzhe and Former President Chen Shui-bian Embroiled in Corruption Case

Former Taipei Mayor Ko Wenzhe and former Deputy Mayor Peng Zhensheng have been charged with bribery and corruption in the Jinghua City Floor Area Ratio case. The Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office investigated the case, and Ko Wenzhe was allowed to return without bail by the District Court.

Former President Chen Shui-bian, who has been practicing calligraphy, posted a piece of “I am not guilty” calligraphy on Facebook. He mentioned that he was inspired by a book titled “I Am Not Guilty” by modern novelist Mazing Ramat, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature and was nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Chen Shui-bian was interrogated by the Special Investigation Team on November 11, 2008, and was imprisoned the next day. Although the district court initially agreed to his detention, his lawyer successfully protested, and the court finally approved his detention.
