Cairo, Egypt - Al-Ahly’s technical director, Marcel Kohler, will convene with his assistant staff on Monday to chart the team’s training program ahead of their upcoming Intercontinental cup semi-final clash. The team returned to Cairo this morning following a grueling away match against south Africa’s Orlando Pirates.
The African Champions League group stage encounter ended in a scoreless draw, a result Kohler deemed “satisfactory” given the challenging circumstances.
“We were playing for the win, but we cannot underestimate the strength of our opponent, especially on their home turf and in front of their passionate fans,” Kohler said. “The draw is a positive outcome considering the difficulty of the match and the demanding climate that impacted the game.”
Al-Ahly will resume training at the Mokhtar Al-Touch stadium on Monday, focusing their efforts on preparing for their Intercontinental Cup semi-final showdown against the victor of the Pachuca (Mexico) vs. Botafogo (Brazil) match. The semi-final is scheduled for December 14th in Qatar.
