Koller’s Kick: Al-Ahly’s Swiss Sensation Brings Laughter and Thrills to the Pitch

The official website of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) hailed Egypt’s Al-Ahly for winning the first edition of the Tri-Continent Cup (Africa, Asia and the Pacific).

Al-Ahli clinched the Championship Cup after an impressive 3-point win over its guests Al Ain, United Arab Emirates in the second round of the Confederation Cup (Intercontinental Cup) yesterday Tuesday.

CAF added that Swiss coach Marcel Kohler’s Cubs entertained fans at the Cairo International Stadium, which hosted the match, with their performance and the three goals they scored.

Al-Ahly scored a hat-trick against Al-Ain, AFC Champions League holders, with Palestinian international, Wissam Abu Ali, in the 32nd minute, Imam Ashour, in the 55th minute and substitute Mohammad Magdi Afsha, in the 55th minute. Third minute of stoppage time of the match.

CAF explained that Al-Ahly will compete in the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Cup, called the “Challenge Cup”, under the auspices of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

Africa’s century club are scheduled to meet in the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Cup in the Qatari capital Doha on December 14, with the winner of the match pitting Mexican club Pachuca against the 2024 Copa Libertadores champions.

Pachuca won the last edition of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean (CONCACAF) Champions League, while the winner of the Libertadores Cup will be determined next month.

Al-Ahly, which has now become the sole representative of Arab football in the Intercontinental Cup, if it makes it past the finals of the tournament, will be able to reach the final match in Doha on December 18 and face the European Champions League champions of Spain Real Madrid.
