On his “Keepin’ It 100” podcast, Konnan addressed speculation about the commentary team. Disco Inferno, Konnan’s co-host, inquired whether Mike Tenay, a former WCW and TNA commentator, was considered for the role.Konnan confirmed Tenay was in the running.
“I was not the number one option,” Konnan said.He added that a disagreement over money might have prevented Tenay from participating. WWE may also have questioned Tenay’s ability to maintain the role for the event’s duration.
Tenay gained prominence after the original When Worlds Collide pay-per-view in 1994. he later became a key commentator for WCW’s cruiserweight matches. Following WCW’s acquisition by WWE, Tenay became the voice of TNA Wrestling in 2002, a position he held for 14 years. In 2023, Tenay and the late Don West were inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame.
