Updated june 21, 2025
Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the Kardashian-Jenner family, has recently drawn attention for her rejuvenated appearance, leading to speculation about a possible deep plane facelift. While a representative for Jenner confirmed that Dr. Steven Levine of New York City performed a procedure, the specific type was not disclosed.
Dr. Patrick Davis, a facial plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, noted that Jenner’s look appears both “youthful and natural,” which he said is indicative of a well-executed procedure. Davis, who has not treated Jenner, speculated that her facial structure was lifted to reset her skin tissues. He added that the healthy distribution of fat could be due to a fat transfer along with a facelift.

Dr. Jonathan Kaplan, a plastic surgeon in San Francisco, concurred that Jenner achieved an “unbelievable result” from what “appears to be” a deep plane facelift.
Traditional vs. Deep Plane Facelift
A standard facelift, also known as a SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) facelift, involves incisions behind the hairline and around the ear. Surgeons lift and tighten deeper tissues and muscles, removing excess skin to reduce wrinkles, sagging, and jowls, resulting in a more youthful face and neck contour, according to the American board of Cosmetic Surgery.
Davis said his training has largely focused on deep plane facelifts. This technique involves a broader dissection under the structural elements of the face, allowing surgeons to reset a greater proportion of facial tissues. Davis said the benefit is a more natural, vertical reset, with tissues re-attaching in a broader way for more durable results.

Davis advised that prospective patients should ask surgeons about incision placement and closure techniques, and also details about their specific approach, background, experience, and how often they perform the procedure.
Davis said it’s important to find a surgeon with extensive knowledge in facial plastic surgery who can provide tidy, well-hidden incisions. Above all, he stressed the importance of feeling pleasant with the surgeon, as they will be present not only for the procedure but also throughout the recovery.
