Updated June 25, 2025
Tamil actor Krishna faced questioning by Chennai police on Wednesday as part of an ongoing drug abuse investigation. This follows the arrest of fellow actor srikanth on June 23. Authorities are widening their investigation to determine if other individuals in the Tamil film industry are connected to the cocaine case.
Krishna appeared at the Nungambakkam Police Station, where Srikanth was previously interrogated before his arrest, according to The Hindu. Police sources indicate that the summons was issued based on a confession from pradeep Kumar, an accused individual in the case.
During questioning, Krishna denied any involvement with drugs, stating he has a severe allergy to narcotics as 2018 and is currently receiving treatment for a heart condition. He acknowledged a friendship with Srikanth but denied any association with Pradeep Kumar, the alleged drug supplier.
A senior police official confirmed Krishna’s statements. The next steps in the investigation include a medical examination and a search of Krishna’s residence for potential evidence of narcotics possession.
The drug case originated from a police raid on June 17, which led to the arrest of Pradeep Kumar (also known as Prado) and John, a Ghanaian national, who were found in possession of 11 grams of cocaine. Pradeep reportedly told police that the drugs were supplied to a former AIADMK functionary, who then allegedly sold the cocaine to Srikanth.
Srikanth’s arrest followed verification of these claims. The initial trigger for the investigation was a clash between two groups at a Chennai bar on May 5, which prompted a more extensive investigation and subsequent arrests.
What’s next
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities exploring potential links between other actors and public figures to the drug network.
