U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was admitted⁣ to a Washington, D.C. hospital Tuesday ⁣after experiencing an allergic reaction,according to DHS ⁢officials.The 53-year-old cabinet member was transported as a⁢ precaution and⁣ is ‍currently alert and recovering, confirmed DHS ‍Assistant⁢ Secretary ⁣Tricia McLaughlin.

Noem’s appointment to lead the DHS came shortly after Donald Trump‍ secured a ⁢second presidential ‍term. The Senate confirmed her in late ‍January, following her career as⁣ South Dakota’s governor and representative in Congress.
