Indonesian Air Force Bolsters National Nutrition Program with 54 New Kitchens

The Indonesian Air Force (KSAU) is significantly expanding its support for the nation’s free nutrition meal program (MBG) with the inauguration of 54 new kitchens nationwide. This initiative, a collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), aims to bolster food security adn improve nutritional intake across Indonesia, especially in remote areas.
Expanding Infrastructure for National food Security
The inauguration ceremony, held at the nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, highlighted the rapid progress of the kitchen construction. According to KSAU Chief of staff Marshal Mohamad Tonny harjono, the project is nearing completion, with 10 kitchens already operational, 26 fully constructed and ready for use, and 18 currently under construction.
“In the next two months, 54 kitchens will be ready to support this free nutritious lunch program,” Harjono announced during a press conference. These kitchens will substantially increase the program’s reach, building upon the existing capacity of 10 operational SPPG kitchens wich have already served 32,328 individuals.
The Air Force is committed to meeting the BGN’s target of establishing 500 kitchens throughout Indonesia,with a particular focus on activating facilities in the 3T areas – frontier,outermost,and underdeveloped regions. This strategic deployment will ensure that vulnerable populations in these geographically challenging locations receive consistent access to nutritious meals.
Key Factors for MBG Program Success
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana emphasized the critical components for prosperous implementation of the MBG program: adequate budget allocation, a skilled workforce, and robust infrastructure. He confirmed that the program’s budget has been finalized with the support of President Prabowo Subianto.
Furthermore, Hindayana stated that 33,000 personnel have been trained and prepared to support the MBG program, with the TNI AU actively participating in the training initiatives. This collaborative approach ensures a well-equipped and capable workforce to manage and operate the expanded kitchen network.
High Standards of Hygiene and Food Safety
The BGN expressed strong appreciation for the Indonesian Air Force’s commitment to quality, noting that the newly constructed MBG kitchens have been built to standards exceeding expectations. Hindayana voiced confidence in the TNI AU’s ability to maintain high hygiene standards,ensuring food safety and beneficiary satisfaction.
“They are safe in terms of food safety, and the beneficiaries will be very happy,” he remarked, underscoring the importance of delivering not only nutritious meals but also a safe and positive dining experience.
