KSRTC Bus Driver Suspended for Smuggling International Liquor: Incident Particulars and Penalties

Ponkunnam (Kottayam): The motive force of the passenger bus Manakadav Quick at KSRTC depot Ponkunnam has been suspended for smuggling overseas liquor. The motive force VG Raghunathan has been suspended. Faisal, a brief worker of the driver-conductor, has been dismissed. He was the conductor’s in-charge on the day of the incident.

On August 10, the vigilance staff of the company recovered 5 bottles of overseas liquor of 750 ml every from a field underneath the driving force’s seat contained in the bus at Kozhikode bus stand. These have been handed over to excise and a case was registered. Further State Secretary and Government Director of Vigilance Division A. Shaji intervened.
