The Border War is back on. The Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Tigers women’s basketball teams will renew their rivalry on Nov.15 in Kansas City. The game will be played at T-Mobile Center, also the site of the Big 12 Tournament for both men and women.
The women’s basketball rivalry, a key piece of college basketball history, began in 1973, one year after Title IX was enacted.The series went dormant after Missouri departed the Big 12 for the SEC in 2012, though the teams did meet in the 2023 WNIT.
The men’s basketball teams resumed their series in 2021, and the football teams will meet Sept. 6, restarting their 120-game series that dates to 1891.
The upcoming women’s basketball game highlights the importance of tradition in college sports and offers a great opportunity for both teams and their fans to experience this intense rivalry.
