The unfortunate journey of Tivoli from Oulu to Kajaani will also affect Kuopio, as the carousel, which has been destroyed during transport, has been a popular attraction at the city’s Christmas market for years.
The carousel is owned by Tivoli of Finland, but it has leased it forward in winter, for example.
Now the Kuopio City Center Development Association is exploring a replacement alternative.
The association has already asked for alternatives from other Tivoli, but there are not many.
– We are looking for the same style, but we are open to other options as well. The wish would be visually fine -looking and one that fits the look of the Christmas Market, says the event manager Jari-Pekka Piipponen.
The challenge is that Christmas markets are organized at the same time and the carousel is in frequent use. Many devices are already booked for next Christmas. The destroyed carousel was reserved for the Kuopio Christmas Market in good time.
Piipponen says that the carousel has been in Kuopio for years: first at the opening of Christmas and in recent years at the Christmas Market.
The occupancy rate of the carousel has been really tough every year and has been a central part of the Christmas market. The carousel has been picked up for free every year.
Piipponen describes the carousel as a really big attraction.
– The device has spun from morning to night for thirteen days. Sometimes the queues have been up to twenty meters long.
According to Piipponen, the carousel has been a visually important part of the Christmas market.
– This kind of damage is also unfortunate for Tivoli. This is an expensive device, says Piipponen.
The replacement carousel is also looking for the Finnish Tivoli
There is no way to repair a broken carousel. CEO of Tivoli of Finland Lulu Sariola He says that the carousel past has been recovered by everything that might have been further use.
– Horses, LEDs, angles and roster tubes were recovered. Let’s see if something smaller can be built, Sariola says.
Now Tivoli is also looking for a feverishly replacement carousel. As a factory order, for example, a device replacing the price could be € 250,000 and it will take time to get it. Primarily, a device from Europe is used as a search.
The biggest challenge, according to Sariola, is that so far there have been only carousels in fixed parks. Transporting them, on the other hand, is not at all simple.
If a suitable device is popular, it will be available at the Kuopio Christmas Market and many other cities’ Christmas openings.
