Kurt Vile Announces New Album Philadelphia’s Been Good to Me and World Tour

Kurt Vile has announced a new album titled Philadelphia’s Been Good To Me, scheduled for release on May 29, 2026, via Verve Records. The project serves as a tribute to the city of Philadelphia and marks Vile’s first full-length release since his 2022 major-label debut, watch my moves.

The album is Vile’s 10th official LP, a count that includes his collaborative work with Courtney Barnett. Much of the record was self-produced in Vile’s home studio located in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia, a space he refers to as OKV Central. The recording process took place between 2023 and early 2026, with additional sessions held in Athens, Georgia; Memphis, Tennessee; and Los Angeles, California.

Vile has described the album as a bringing it all back home to Philly record, noting that he approached the project with the intensity of a final recording. He characterized the work as his best effort regarding vocals and electric guitar, describing it as his most organic record because it was created within his own personal environment.

Lead Single and Collaborations

The album is led by the first single and music video, Chance to Bleed. Vile has described the track’s sound as hillbilly techno, blending rock elements with influences from grimy hip-hop and an ode to old-time, lo-fi, DIY rock ‘n’ roll nights.

The track features guest vocals from several underground musicians, including Natalie Hoffman of NOTS and Optic Sink, Ethan Buckler of Slint and King Kong, and Greg Cartwright of Reigning Sound and The Oblivians. Cartwright also contributes co-lead guitar to the track; the audio is mixed with Vile’s guitar panned to the left and Cartwright’s to the right.

The accompanying music video was filmed at Kung Fu Necktie, a well-known institution in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. The video features a packed house including the aforementioned collaborators, as well as cameos from comedian Jim E Brown and rap pioneer Schoolly D.

2026 World Tour

To support the release, Vile will embark on an extensive world tour running from the summer through the beginning of winter. The tour begins on June 16, 2026, in Toronto, Canada, and concludes on November 24, 2026, in Baltimore, Maryland.

The itinerary includes a significant hometown performance on July 25 at The Dell Music Center in Philadelphia. This show is part of Connor Barwin’s Make The World Better concert series and will feature Pavement as co-headliners.

The tour features a rotating cast of opening acts, including:

The tour route spans North America and Europe, with dates in cities such as Montreal, Chicago, Vancouver, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and Berlin, before returning to the United States for a final leg of shows in cities including Buffalo, Louisville, and Memphis.
