Kuwait Invests in $30B AI Infrastructure Partnership

The Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) is the first non-founding investor to join the AI Infrastructure Partnership (AIP), alongside MGX, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), adn microsoft. The partnership, previously known as the Global AI Infrastructure investment Partnership (GAIIP), seeks to bolster investment in AI infrastructure.
Launched in September 2024, the AIP aims to gather $30 billion in private equity, perhaps reaching $100 billion through debt financing. These funds will support AI data centers and related energy infrastructure, primarily in the U.S. and partner nations. This AI partnership seeks to accelerate technological advancement.
KIA Managing Director Sheikh Saoud Salem abdulaziz al-Sabah said KIA’s participation shows a “long-term commitment to investing in transformative global infrastructure.”
MGX CEO Ahmed Yahia Al Idrissi said KIA’s investment “reinforces the strength and long-term vision of the AIP Partnership.”
The partnership combines the infrastructure expertise of BlackRock and GIP, MGX’s focus on AI investment, and Microsoft’s technology leadership. Bayo Ogunlesi,chairman and CEO of GIP,noted his pleasure in welcoming KIA to the AIP. NVIDIA and xAI have also joined as technology collaborators, ensuring an open architecture for diverse partners.
