The Saudi Crown Prince Delivers the Annual Royal Address to the Shura Council
On behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, will deliver the annual royal address to open the first year of work of the ninth session of the Shura Council. The address will cover Saudi Arabia’s domestic and foreign policy, as well as its stance on regional and international issues.
The oath was taken in front of the Saudi Crown Prince, Shura Council Chairman Dr. Abdullah Al Sheikh, and members appointed to the ninth session. Al-Sheikh expressed his desire to achieve leadership aspirations by participating in comprehensive development processes for the nation and citizens, in light of the support, interest, and follow-up the Council has received from its work.
He praised the success and achievements that Saudi Arabia is witnessing under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, and stressed the renaissance of sustainable development as per the “Vision 2030” framework. The Council is informed of the decisions that fall under its powers and competence during its work, deliberations, and studies by the content of the Royal Speech each year.
Al-Sheikh said that during its eighth session in the past four years, the council issued 1,510 decisions during 191 regular sessions, including 44 sessions in the fourth year that resulted in 493 decisions. He commended the members for their continued, serious work, commitment to objectivity in treatment, and distinguished dialogue in the presentation of the Eighth Session, which led the Council to this fruitful outcome.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Shura Council, Mohammed Al-Mutairi, considered the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince of the Council and all its work to be an important support and strong support for the Council. Its achievement is all that leadership aspirations and citizen ambitions can achieve.
He explained that this recognition of its work and the inauguration of its Shura year with a royal speech demonstrate the status and role of the Council in Saudi Arabia and what the Shura principle represents in terms of an organizational process and active participation in the study and revision of regulations, oversight over the work of all government agencies.
Al-Mutairi emphasized that the Council - through the role it has been assigned - will continue to move forward with determination, aspiring to leadership in all things that will maximize the pioneering development achievements achieved, act on them, and improve all services provided to citizens and residents in different regions of the country.
