YouTuber Kwak Tube, who has been open about being a victim of school violence, is facing criticism for collaborating with actress Lee Na-eun, formerly of April, who was suspected of bullying a fellow member.
Kwak Tube recently signed an exclusive contract with SM C&C and won several awards, including the Blue Dragon Series Awards New Entertainer Award and the 51st Korea Broadcasting Awards Best Entertainer Award. However, his upcoming broadcast appearance plans may be affected by this controversy.
The Controversy Surrounding Lee Na-eun
Lee Na-eun was embroiled in suspicions of collectively bullying member Lee Hyun-joo during her time in April. The controversy began in 2021 when Lee Hyun-joo’s younger sibling revealed on an online community that Lee Hyun-joo had left the team due to continuous bullying. Lee Na-eun and her agency sued Lee Hyun-joo for defamation, but Lee Hyun-joo was found not guilty.
Kwak Tube’s Collaboration with Lee Na-eun
On September 16, Kwak Tube released a travel video with Lee Na-eun on his YouTube channel titled ‘My first romantic week in Italy – Italy (1)’. In the video, Kwak Tube talked with Lee Na-eun while traveling in Rome and apologized for misunderstandings about Lee Na-eun in the past. However, many netizens criticized the collaboration, saying that Kwak Tube was helping to restore Lee Na-eun’s image and questioning his sincerity.
