Kyiv is currently under an air raid alert as of January 3, 2024, due to​ an approaching ⁢threat of unmanned aerial vehicles ​(UAVs), commonly known ‌as ⁤drones. Authorities ⁤are urging all⁣ residents to immediately seek⁤ shelter and remain there until the all-clear is given.

Drone ⁢Trajectories and Initial Interceptions

Initial ⁣reports ​indicate multiple groups of drones​ are approaching Kyiv ​from various directions. The Ukrainian Armed ⁣Forces reported UAV activity in the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region, ‌moving towards‍ Brovary, and subsequently past ‍Brovary heading⁤ southwest‌ towards the capital.⁣ ‌Additional drones were tracked ⁢originating from the ⁤Chernihiv region,also heading towards Kyiv. ⁤Monitoring channels identified formations ⁣of 3, 5, and 10 drones.

Air Defense Engaged,⁤ Explosions Reported

At approximately 10:55 PM local time on January 3, 2024, explosions were heard‌ in Kyiv, signaling⁤ the activation⁤ of air defense ​systems.Timur Tkachenko, ​head of the ⁢Kyiv Military ‍Business ⁢Administration (KMBA), confirmed that enemy UAVs were over the capital and ⁣that ⁤air defense was‍ actively engaged in⁤ neutralizing​ the threat. Residents are advised to remain in safe locations.
