Kyle Busch, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and all-time wins leader in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, will expand his presence in the Truck Series this year, piloting the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado for Spire Motorsports in eight races. This increased commitment comes after NASCAR amended what became known as the “Kyle Busch rule,” allowing the veteran driver to compete in more Truck Series events.
Busch’s remarkable record in the Truck Series includes 67 wins, far surpassing any other driver in the series’ history. His most recent Truck Series victory came in a dramatic photo finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway last year, also driving for Spire Motorsports. The team will receive backing from HendrickCars.com for Busch’s races.
“I’m excited that after NASCAR amended the ‘Kyle Busch rule’ that I was able to work it out with Jeff (Dickerson, owner), Brian (Pattie, crew chief) and everyone at Spire Motorsports to increase my race count up to the eight that are allowed this year,” Busch said in a team release. “With the schedule we’ve put together, the majority of the tracks I’m fortunate to have a lot of wins at but You’ll see also a few that I haven’t won at yet in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series and will be looking to add to the win list. I’m looking forward to going out each and every race, giving it all we can to get Mr. H, HendrickCars.com and the other partners that will fill out the schedule to Victory Lane.”
The 40-year-old Busch has consistently participated in the Truck Series, making five starts annually since 2018. In 2023, he secured two wins, four top-five finishes, and five top-ten results in his limited Truck Series appearances. His success in the Truck Series is particularly noteworthy given his simultaneous commitments to the NASCAR Cup Series, where he currently drives for Richard Childress Racing.
The 2026 Truck Series schedule for Busch with Spire Motorsports includes races at several tracks where he has enjoyed previous success, as well as opportunities to add new victories to his already impressive tally. The schedule is as follows:
- : EchoPark Speedway [Atlanta]
- : Bristol Motor Speedway
- : Texas Motor Speedway
- : Dover Motor Speedway
- : Charlotte Motor Speedway
- : Nashville Superspeedway
- : North Wilkesboro Speedway
- : Richmond Raceway
Busch’s return to the Truck Series with Spire Motorsports is a continuation of a relationship that began after he sold the assets of his longtime Truck team, Kyle Busch Motorsports, to Spire. Many of the employees from KBM transitioned to Spire, ensuring a familiar environment for Busch. He will be working with Brian Pattie, his crew chief from last year, and the same team he collaborated with previously.
Despite the change in ownership and branding, Busch expressed confidence in the equipment and personnel at Spire Motorsports. “While it’ll be a little bittersweet not having a KBM decal on the front of the truck and a [No.] 51 on the side, I know that I’ll be getting in the best equipment in the series,” Busch stated. “Once I’m behind the wheel, it’ll look and feel like home and just like always, my only goal will be to add more banners in the shop!”
The No. 7 truck Busch will be driving at Atlanta was previously piloted by Corey LaJoie, who finished 20th at Daytona International Speedway. The FR8 208 at Atlanta is scheduled to run on , at 2 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
The increased number of races for Busch in the Truck Series highlights his continued passion for the series and his desire to compete at the highest level across all three of NASCAR’s national divisions. His presence is expected to elevate the competition and draw increased attention to the Craftsman Truck Series.
