Kyrgios Out of Wimbledon: Injury Update
Nick Kyrgios Out of Wimbledon Due to Injury Setback
Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios will miss Wimbledon this year, citing a setback in his recovery from a wrist injury. The 30-year-old, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2022, has struggled with injuries, limiting his court time over the past two years.
Kyrgios managed to secure his first singles victory since 2022 at the Miami Open in March. Though, he later withdrew from the French open as of a knee injury, where he was scheduled to participate in men’s doubles. This latest setback prevents his return to the grass court season.
Kyrgios shared his disappointment on Instagram, stating he hit a “small setback” in his recovery. He added that he knows “how much you’ve been looking forward to seeing me out there adn I’m genuinely sorry to disappoint.”
“I’ve hit a small setback in my recovery and regrettably I won’t make it back for grass season this year. This is just a bump in the road though and I’m already working hard to get back stronger than ever.”
What’s next
Kyrgios is focusing on recovery and aims to return to the court stronger. Wimbledon is scheduled to begin June 30.
