A shooting in South Los Angeles has left six people injured, with the investigation still underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The shooting occurred on Wednesday, September 25, at approximately 3 pm in the Vermont Knolls community, located at 74th and Figueroa Street. According to authorities, three suspects drove up to the scene in a black car and fired as many as 25 shots at the victims on the sidewalk.
Fortunately, the group of victims was not the intended target, but rather got caught in the crossfire by chance. The victims, five women and one man, ranged in age from 36 to 62 years old. All were shot in the lower limbs and are expected to survive.
Video footage from the scene showed a dark-colored vehicle parked at the site of the shooting, with visible bullet holes in the windshield. Police are currently searching for three suspects, one female and two males, who fled the scene in a black sedan, heading southbound on Flower Street.
While officials believe one of the suspects may be a teenager, no detailed description has been provided. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
A neighbor reported that this was the second shooting in the area within the past month. The neighborhood is known to be a hotspot for prostitution, with several pimps residing in the area.
