La Onda Festival 2026 Canceled: Refunds Available

La Onda Festival 2026 Canceled: Refunds Available

February 25, 2026 Marcus Rodriguez - Entertainment Editor Entertainment

The highly anticipated La Onda Festival, a Latin music event held in Napa Valley, has been abruptly cancelled just weeks after announcing its 2026 lineup. Organizers confirmed the cancellation on Monday, February 23rd, leaving ticket holders and fans scrambling for answers.

The festival, which debuted in June 2024, quickly established itself as a significant event in the Northern California music scene, drawing between 65,000 and 70,000 attendees during its inaugural two-day run. Produced by BottleRock, La Onda aimed to fill a gap in the market for a large-scale, Spanish-language music festival in the region, featuring prominent Latin artists and a diverse range of genres.

This year’s planned lineup, revealed just under two weeks before the cancellation, boasted a formidable roster of talent including J Balvin, Maná, and Christian Nodal. The announcement had generated considerable excitement within the Latin music community, and anticipation for the May 30th-31st event was high.

In a statement released on social media, organizers offered a brief explanation: “Unfortunately, the 2026 Festival La Onda will not be taking place. All ticket buyers who purchased through Front Gate Tickets will receive a full refund in as little as 30 days.” The statement also expressed hope for a future iteration of the festival, adding, “We remain hopeful that a future Festival La Onda will be possible. Until then, we are proud of what we created together and deeply grateful to the fans who supported La Onda.”

However, organizers have remained tight-lipped regarding the specific reasons behind the cancellation. When questioned on Tuesday, February 24th, a spokesperson for La Onda, Tom Fuller, stated, “I’m sorry, I don’t have any further information for you at this time.” This lack of transparency has fueled speculation and frustration among fans.

The cancellation has been met with disappointment from both attendees and industry observers. Rosy Sánchez, a TikTok creator who focuses on concert coverage for the Latin community, expressed her sadness upon learning of the news. Sánchez, who had planned to purchase tickets and travel from Chicago for the festival, described the lineup as “incredible.”

“The lineup sounded amazing,” Sánchez said on Tuesday, February 24th. “I was really looking forward to attending the festival for the first time.”

Adding to the frustration, organizers temporarily disabled comments on the festival’s Instagram and TikTok accounts, preventing fans from voicing their concerns or seeking clarification. Sánchez believes this move was counterproductive, arguing that “people want to be heard.”

The abrupt cancellation raises questions about the future of La Onda. While organizers maintain hope for a return, the circumstances surrounding this year’s decision remain unclear. The festival’s success in its first year, attracting a substantial audience and featuring high-profile artists, suggested a promising trajectory. The planned 2026 lineup, featuring J Balvin – who recently collaborated with Bad Bunny on an album in 2019 – and the return of Maná, indicated continued ambition and a commitment to delivering a compelling experience for Latin music fans.

Ticket holders who purchased through Front Gate Tickets are assured a full refund within 30 days, with no action required on their part. Organizers have stated that email confirmations will be sent once refunds are processed. Those who opted for payment plans or layaway options will also receive a full refund to their original payment method. Refunds for ticket transfers will be issued to the original purchaser, and those who purchased ticket insurance through Allianz are advised to contact the provider directly for reimbursement.

The cancellation of La Onda underscores the inherent challenges in producing large-scale music festivals, even in established markets. While the reasons for this year’s decision remain undisclosed, it serves as a reminder of the complex logistical, financial, and operational considerations involved in bringing such events to fruition. For now, fans are left hoping that the festival will overcome these hurdles and return to the Napa Valley in the future.
