Trump Deploys National Guard to Quell Anti-ICE Protests in Los Angeles

Following weekend immigration raids, President Donald Trump is sending federalized National Guard troops to Los
Angeles amid ongoing anti-ICE protests. Trump cited Title 10 12406 of teh U.S. Code as justification for
deploying the military to manage the demonstrations.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that active-duty Marines at Camp Pendleton are on “high alert” and could
be used if violence escalates. The LAPD reported that tear gas was deployed after declaring the exhibition
unlawful late Saturday.
Earlier, Trump addressed the protests on Truth social, promising to deal with “RIOTS & LOOTERS.” He also
criticized California Gov. Gavin newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, suggesting federal intervention if
they could not manage the situation.
