The Labour Party candidate for Cork North Central, Kenny, shared his experience as an epileptic on social media. He expressed pride in his condition and stated, “Politicians are normal,” reflecting on the support he received during a seizure last Tuesday at RTÉ Radio One’s Drivetime.
Kenny acknowledged that rivals in the upcoming election helped him during the incident, along with RTÉ staff and paramedics. He expressed gratitude for their assistance and reassured everyone that he is doing well and continues his campaign.
He emphasized that having a medical condition does not prevent someone from serving in public roles. Since becoming a councillor in February, he has managed his epilepsy effectively.
Kenny praised Epilepsy Ireland for their support of those with epilepsy, especially the over 1,200 people in Cork North Central. He advised on how to assist someone during a seizure, highlighting three key steps: stay, time, and safe.
He remarked, “Stay with the person, time the seizure, and make sure the person is safe.” Kenny aimed to tell his story personally, asserting, “It’s my story to tell.”
He concluded by expressing his hopes to win the election in Cork North-Central, urging for support next Friday.
