Lacianne Carriere Shares Grief and Family Tributes

Carriere, 22, posted a tribute on Instagram on Oct. 23, 2026, featuring a carousel of photos and memories of her brother. There are just no words. You were just here, she wrote, noting that his strawberry Fanta was still sitting on her coffee table when she received the news.

Carriere explained that Mitte took on a fatherly role during her childhood after their mother was paralyzed from the waist down in an accident when Carriere was just two weeks old. She added that her brother influenced every aspect of her personality, from her taste in music and film to video games. She also shared that he inspired her to become a collector, teaching her that even the smallest piece of paper can be a precious memory later on.

Earlier, on Oct. 16, 2026, Carriere spoke at Mitte’s celebration of life at the Mitte Cultural District in Brownsville, Texas. During the service, she urged anyone who is struggling to reach out for help, telling the crowd to accept assistance and remember they are never alone.

Dyna Mitte and Co-Stars Address the Loss

Dyna Mitte, the actor’s mother, discovered him dead at his Brownsville home on Oct. 12, 2026, a finding confirmed by Cameron County Justice of the Peace Judge Cyndi Hinojosa, according to USA Today. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter following the service, Dyna Mitte advised families to watch for warning signs and be willing to seek help.

Bryan Cranston, who played Mitte’s on-screen father in Breaking Bad, shared his deep despair on Instagram, reminding anyone contemplating suicide to call the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Dean Norris, who portrayed Hank Schrader on the crime series, also expressed heartbreak over the loss of his young co-star, while Giancarlo Esposito told TMZ that he had spoken with Mitte in person shortly before his death. Esposito described him as a dear friend and lovely human being, adding, I will remember the magnitude of your kindness, your philanthropy, your being in service to others before yourself. Bob Odenkirk, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Jonathan Banks, Betsy Brandt, and Dean Norris joined Cranston, Mitte, and his mother at events like the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards in L.A.

Mitte rose to fame playing Walter “Flynn” White Jr. in the Emmy-winning series from 2008 to 2013, appearing alongside major stars such as Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Bob Odenkirk, and Dean Norris after first joining the show at age 15. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at age three, he used his platform to advocate for disability rights and inclusion, serving as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s. Beyond his iconic television role, Mitte landed TV parts in Switched At Birth, Vegas, Now Apocalypse, and Chance, and acted in films including Time Share, Dixieland, and Westhampton.

Relationship Pressures and Ongoing Questions

TMZ reported that Mitte experienced increasing relationship tensions with his fiancée, Kennedy Suarez, after Suarez moved to Georgia for work in late December 2025 and Mitte refused to relocate. Sources cited by TMZ indicated that the pressure surrounding the relationship contributed to Mitte’s emotional decline, though it remains unclear whether the couple officially split before his death. Dyna Mitte acknowledged in her interview with The Hollywood Reporter that her son had faced personal struggles, while noting that some details remain private.

I can share certain things, but some things are private and are not my story to tell.
