Police Presence and Prior Incident at Lake Nona Middle School
A significant police presence was observed at Lake Nona Middle School in Orange County on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Chopper 2 footage showed at least a dozen police cruisers in the school’s parking lot and bus loop.
This incident follows a previous event that occurred on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, involving a 12-year-old student at Lake Nona Middle School. According to reports from the Orlando Police Department, the student became verbally aggressive and physically violent towards school staff.
The February 2024 incident escalated when the student struck a school resource officer and removed the officer’s radio microphone. Attempts were made by school staff and the officer to de-escalate the situation, but the officer ultimately deployed pepper spray on the student. The student was subsequently taken to Nemours Children’s Hospital as a precaution.
The 12-year-old student was arrested and charged with battery on a school employee, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, disruption of an educational institution, and depriving an officer of means of communication.
One individual, commenting on a Facebook post from November 4, 2025, inquired about a large police presence along Narcoossee Road near Lake Nona Middle School around 8:15 PM. It is currently unclear if this earlier incident is related to the police presence observed today.
According to reports, no one was physically injured during the February 2024 altercation. One person interviewed following the incident expressed concern about the increasing instances of attacks on teachers by students, stating, “The first reaction was why would somebody, you know, spray a 12 year old child? But then, as I learned more about the story and I’m like, he could have been in a bad position because, you know, you don’t know that, you know, teachers are being hit and attacked by children now. And sometimes you feel your you you fear what could be happening next.”
The Orlando Police Department reported the February 2024 incident occurred while classes were in session.
