Lambourn Wins Chester Vase Stakes,Boosting Epsom Derby Hopes

Lambourn,with Ryan Moore aboard,surged to victory in the Chester Vase Stakes,a notable trial for the upcoming Epsom Derby. The 11-8 favorite overcame a third-place position entering the final stretch to win by 1 1/2 lengths.This Epsom Derby trial showcased Lambourn’s stamina and determination.
Lazy Griff finished second, followed by Convergent in third. The chester Vase Stakes win marks a record-extending 11th victory in the race for trainer Aidan O’Brien.
O’Brien noted Lambourn’s staying power. “He looked a thorough stayer and while he was a little on and off the bridle, once the penny dropped, he came home really strongly,” O’Brien said.
He got the trip really well and he’s gone through the line nicely.

O’brien is considering sending Lambourn to Epsom, emphasizing the valuable experience gained at Chester. He also mentioned upcoming trials at Lingfield, leopardstown, and York before making a final decision about the Epsom Derby.
