Lana Del Rey has released the official theme song for the James Bond video game “007: First Light,” marking her official entry into the James Bond universe through a collaboration with veteran Bond composer David Arnold.
The song, released on April 16, 2026, serves as the title track for the upcoming video game developed by IO Interactive and published by Amazon MGM Studios. It features a sultry introduction that builds into dramatic horns and strings, incorporating a snippet of the classic James Bond theme at the end of the chorus.
David Arnold, who has composed music for five previous James Bond films including “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace,” worked with Del Rey on the track. He stated that the song joins a long line of genre-defining Bond title songs and expressed excitement about working with an artist who brought “elegance, atmosphere, and her totally unique character” to the piece.
The video game “007: First Light” is described as a fully original, reimagined origin story of James Bond, following a 26-year-old agent at the very beginning of his journey in MI6. Patrick Gibson voices the young James Bond, joined by Lennie James as mentor John Greenway, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, and Noémie Nakai as Ms. Roth. Lenny Kravitz also stars in the game as the new Bond villain Bawma.
The game was initially slated for a March 27 release but was rescheduled to May 27, 2026, to allow additional time for polishing. It was first previewed during PlayStation’s 2025 State of Play event in September 2025.
This collaboration represents a shift in how the James Bond franchise extends into interactive media, with the theme song debuting in a video game rather than a theatrical film. Del Rey had previously written a song for a James Bond film in 2015 that was ultimately rejected by producers, making this release a realization of her long-held ambition to contribute to the Bond musical legacy.
The official title sequence featuring Del Rey’s theme song is set to be revealed on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PST, with a live stream available on Deadline.
