At that time, demonstrations took place for days in front of the DPR building.

One of the triggers was the DPR’s salary, which was ‍considered excessive, ⁢plus a very large housing allowance,⁤ while people were having difficulty finding work.

Until Thursday (08/28) night, a victim fell, namely an online motorcycle taxi driver, Affan‌ Kurniawan, who was run over ‍by a police tactical‌ vehicle.

This sparked empathy as well⁢ as anger from the⁢ public, which was then expressed through social⁣ media.

However, ⁤later, those who tried to speak out were silenced by ⁣being named suspects on charges of incitement, which also befell Laras.

“The August-September action was indeed one‌ of the peaks of how criminalization and silencing were ⁣shown openly, explicitly.

“That⁢ this country wants to show that it has⁣ the power to be able⁢ to arrest ⁣anyone,⁣ to be able to silence anyone who is considered disruptive, including citizen activities in the digital space,” said Executive Director of the Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network⁤ (SAFEnet), Nenden Sekar Arum.

Separately, Executive Director of Amnesty International, Usman Hamid, added that the verdict to be read would be a test for the judicial system.

usman said that an acquittal in Laras’s case‍ would be jurisprudence for the cases ‌of Delpedro,Azril, and Gilang in surabaya.

The⁢ verdict that will be read…

Laras became the family’s backbone. Her ‌mother even fell ill while‌ Laras was ⁣in custody.

During her ‌detention, both at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim Polri) and in the ‍Bambu Apus detention center, Laras wrote several letters.

The‌ letters detailed the situation in the detention center, which opened her eyes to ‌the condition of law in Indonesia.

There were also letters sending encouragement to other friends who were also ⁢criminalized for speaking out during the August-September ‌2025⁣ demonstrations.

“We all, who have been named⁣ suspects and framed as ‘criminals’ for voicing our disappointment,⁣ sadness, and concerns ⁤about⁣ the recent demonstration situation, are speaking ⁣out from a sense of mutual cooperation and concern for the condition of the Indonesian state. Also, our hope that our country can be even better,” Laras wrote in ⁣a letter dated October 21, 2025.

In her defence statement ‍a‌ few weeks ago, Laras also revealed that she was in a cramped room with 15 female prisoners on a hard and cold mattress.

“We had to jostle for space, far from comfortable,” Laras said in her plea.

She also revealed the difficulty of accessing healthcare inside the detention center.

“When I was sick, I was given expired medication, and access to healthcare and medicine was very challenging,” Laras revealed.

Laras stated that she was frequently enough yelled at.

First, Laras is accused of violating Article 28 paragraph (1) of ‍the Electronic Details and Transactions Law (UU‌ ITE).

second, Laras is accused of intentionally and without right or against the‍ law, ⁤in any way ‌altering, adding to, reducing, transmitting, damaging, eliminating, concealing, something electronic information and/or electronic documents belonging to others ⁤or the public without authorization. The second ‌charge refers to Article 48 paragraph (1) Jo Article 32 paragraph (2)‍ of the UU ITE.

Third, Laras is accused of publicly, orally⁤ or⁣ in writing inciting to commit a criminal act, committing ‍violence against public authorities or disobeying either the provisions of the Law or orders given based on the provisions of the Law. Mantan pegawai AIPA, ⁤Laras Faizati Besar Kepolisian Negara republik Indonesia.<i class=When your office is right next to the National Police Headquartes. Please burn this building down and get them all yall I wish could help throw some stones but my mom wants me home. Sending strength to all the protesters !!
  • Video yang ketiga berupa foto Laras yang berdiri di ruangan kerja lantai 5 kantor⁤ ASEAN Inter Parliamentary Assembly ⁤(AIPA) posisi kedua tangan dibentangkan, lalu diberi kalimat atau narasi serta caption: Policeman should ⁤be ⁣serving our country but why do I serve harder than all of them combined??? They’re ⁢so useless and lazy fr that’s why they are ‍all fat (ugly and bald).
