Black creatives gather for intimate ABFF dinner in Miami
As a global film producer, I’ve attended film festivals worldwide. As
relocating to Miami, the American Black Film Festival has become especially
meaningful, now taking place in my backyard.
This year, I wanted to host an event centered on black joy, love, and
legacy, not industry matters. I hosted an intimate dinner on Thursday
night focused on real connection, reminding us that meaningful celebrations
happen as we deserve to support each other.

We honored jeff and Nicole Friday, the founders of ABFF, for their work
elevating Black storytelling, and Larenz Tate, for his artistry and
activism.
the guest list included Gabrielle Union, Naturi Naughton, Mara Brock Akil,
Bevy Smith, Lisa Price (Carol’s Daughter), Tai Beauchamp, Rikki Hughes,
DaShawn Usher and Julian Walker (GLAAD), Ingrid Best (Ibest Wines), Ellene
Miles (Sony), Nikki Love and Brett Dismuke (ALLBLK), Amber Raspberry
(amazon), Giselle Johnson Morris (BLACKMALED Productions), Swanky jerry,

The evening was filled with radiant, powerful, and unbothered Black joy.
Then it rained.
In true family fashion, no one left. Instead, the downpour turned into a
spontaneous karaoke session, with everyone singing, laughing, and supporting
each other. The rain onyl enhanced the night.
