Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme for Hong Kong Students

The Education Bureau reminds eligible Hong Kong students who intend to apply for the Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme for the 2024/25 academic year to submit their applications through the Mainland University Study Subsidy Scheme online application platform (musss.edb.gov.hk) on or before the 13th of this month, or submit the completed application form to the Education Bureau by mail.

A spokesman for the Education Bureau said that the subsidy scheme is expected to benefit the vast majority of Hong Kong students who come to the mainland to study bachelor’s degree programs and have different financial needs.

Eligible students can apply for the “means-tested subsidy” or “non-means-tested subsidy” of the financial aid scheme. The former is only available to students who pass the means test. Subsidy funds under the subsidy scheme will be disbursed on an annual basis, and the subsidy period is the normal study period of the bachelor’s degree program studied by the relevant students at designated mainland institutions. Eligible applicants can only receive either “means-tested subsidy” or “non-means-tested subsidy” within the same school year.
