Spain’s Prime Minister Convenes Security Council After Widespread Blackout
MADRID (AP) — Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has reconvened the National Security Council for Wednesday to further assess the fallout from a widespread power outage that plunged Spain into darkness. This marks the fifth remarkable meeting held at the Moncloa complex in response to the incident.
The meeting follows a separate “emergency” session between Sánchez and executives from major electric companies at La Moncloa.During that meeting,the prime minister urged the companies to cooperate in determining the cause of the blackout,which impacted the entire Iberian Peninsula.
According to a statement, Sánchez also expressed gratitude to the companies for “their work in the prompt recovery of the supply” during the meeting at the presidential complex.
