Medical Research and Athlete Recovery
In professional football, MBST UK has formalized a clinical research partnership with Charlton Athletic to study musculoskeletal injury recovery in elite athletes. This agreement builds upon the use of MBST technology, a non-invasive magnetic resonance-based treatment, which has been integrated into the club’s sports medicine program since the 2024/25 Championship promotion season.
The technology will continue to be utilized alongside standard medical care throughout the 2026/27 season. A central component of the partnership is a clinical research program designed to analyze data on return-to-play timelines and musculoskeletal recovery, which will inform MBST UK’s ongoing research and development.
Formalising our partnership with Charlton Athletic is a big moment for MBST, and is a testament to our technology and the impact we know it can have. Steeped in footballing history, the Club’s commitment to player welfare and innovative sports science makes it an ideal partner for our research.
Liz Clare, Managing Director of MBST Health UK
Adam Coe, Head of Medical at Charlton Athletic, stated that the partnership allows the squad to access cutting-edge recovery options
while contributing to research that benefits the wider sporting community, noting that player availability is essential for success in professional football.
