Latin America Embraces the AI Revolution: 44% of Workers Now Rely on Artificial Intelligence in Their Daily Lives
Artificial Intelligence Adoption in Latin America
Centennials lead its adoption with 54%, while Millennials and Generation X have rates of 47% and 37%, respectively.
The impact and adoption rates of artificial intelligence tools in Latin America continue to increase. According to the study “Challenges and perspectives of work”, prepared by WeWork, in collaboration with Page Resourcing, 44% of workers in Latin America already integrate AI tools in their daily routine, and Centennials, born between 1997 and 2012, lead the adoption of this technology, with 54% of them incorporating AI into their work activities.
The report points to the fact that starting in late 2022 and continuing today, productive AI, such as GPT-4, has become a central topic of discussion. This technology not only facilitates the creation of texts and the production of relevant information, but also offers solutions for the interaction and well-being of its users and although 32% of respondents do not use AI due to a lack of information, and the 24% who do not consider it necessary, 95% recognize its positive impact on the labor market.
Increased Productivity and Concerns
It should be noted that as AI continues to expand, 56% of respondents report increased productivity thanks to these tools, while 39% express concern about their possible future implications.
Generational Differences in AI Adoption
On the other hand, AI adoption varies by generation. While Centennials lead with 54%, Millennials and Generation X follow with 47% and 37%, respectively. This generational difference highlights the increased familiarity and lower resistance to technology among younger workers. In practice, AI is being integrated into various areas of companies, including writing and proofreading, content creation for social networks, lead generation and interaction with prospects, and candidate selection systems.
ChatGPT: The Most Popular AI Tool
Similarly, the most popular tool is still ChatGPT, which reached 100 million active users in just two months after its launch in late 2022 and currently, the number of its users continues to grow. This rapid adoption underscores the growing importance and impact of AI in everyday professional life. However, one of the main challenges is managing privacy and information security, given that these tools can store, use and process sensitive data.
“The growing adoption of artificial intelligence tools in Latin America is a clear reflection of how technology is transforming our work environment. This development not only demonstrates AI’s ability to improve productivity, but also its positive impact on interaction and well-being in the workplace. At WeWork we continue to establish dialogues with companies and productive sectors that allow the adoption of strategies that promote efficiency, the use of disruptive technologies and that adapt to the needs of colleagues.” – Laura Pulido, WeWork Colombia business manager.
