RIGA, Latvia – The Latvian National Theater unveiled its upcoming season during a press conference April 7, highlighting new productions and events. Season 107 will commence with Rainis’ “Indulis and Arya,” directed by Indra Roga. Subscription changes and sales begin April 9.
A concert, “Divine Coincidence,” honoring Uldis Stabulnieks’ 80th birthday, is planned for the fall, according to Baiba tilhena, the theater’s public relations specialist.
Theater director Maris Vitols, Deputy Director ieva Struka, directors Indra Roga and Maria Berzina, and composer Eric Esenwald attended the press conference.
Ambitious Production of “Indulis and Arya” to open Season
The Latvian National Theater will launch its new season in September,coinciding with the 160th anniversary of Rainis’ birth. Roga’s interpretation of “Indulis and Arya” will feature the State Academic Choir “Latvia,” led by conductor Maris Sirmais. Eric Eschenwald composed the music. Karl reyer and Agnese Budovska are also involved in the production, which premieres Sept. 20.
Season Subscriptions Available
Subscription changes and sales for the 2025-2026 season begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday,April 9. The theater offers four new productions and seven subscription options: a premiere card, a gold subscription, and subscriptions numbered 1 through 5. Subscription changes are possible untill May 30. New subscriptions will be sold until Aug. 31, subject to availability.
Subscribers can now change their show date, transferring their ticket to another performance in the repertoire, provided the change is made at least 30 days in advance.
The new season’s motto is “Glad the lights.” According to vitols, this theme of restoration and inspiration will permeate the season, focusing on love and passion as antidotes to hatred and indifference.
