Latvian Railway History Museum Hosts Activities for March Break
Riga, Latvia – through , the Latvian Railway History Museum will offer a series of educational and creative activities for students during the school break. The museum, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, is inviting children and young people to participate, according to museum representatives.
The program includes opportunities to explore the museum’s permanent exhibits, create paper locomotive applications, play games, and embark on an open guided tour titled “Journey into the Past.” Visitors will be able to explore the evolution of travel by train, boarding various passenger cars to experience different eras of rail transport.
Each day, attendees can also view episodes of the animated series “Emergency Brigades,” focusing on railway themes. A photo-orientation and detective game featuring the cat Pearl will also test participants’ attentiveness and problem-solving skills.
The “Journey into the Past” tour will focus on the history of travel, examining how people have journeyed through time. Participants will explore different modes of train travel.
The museum is also encouraging families to document their experiences through short videos or social media posts, tagging @latvianrailwaymuseum on Instagram or Facebook. This initiative aims to foster engagement and create a shared record of visitors’ experiences.
The Latvian Railway History Museum’s origins are linked to the opening of the Riga-Daugavpils railway line in , which brought significant changes to the local social landscape. The museum features a model railway spanning 44 square meters, showcasing unique handmade Latvian railway models and detailing the history of railways in the region.
For families with children, it is recommended to arrive at the museum no later than to fully experience the available activities, as this is the last opportunity to participate in certain programs. The museum is located at Uzvaras bulvāris 2A, Riga, Latvia-1048.
