Just in time for teh holiday season, Latvian Voices, a renowned a cappella group, has released their tenth studio album, “SNIEGums” (Snow). The album is a captivating blend of original compositions, traditional latvian winter solstice songs, and globally recognized Christmas melodies, all arranged in the group’s signature intricate and harmonious style.
“SNIEGums” is a testament to the group’s dedication to both preserving Latvian musical heritage and pushing creative boundaries. The album’s centerpiece is a reimagined version of the Latvian folk song “Pūti, pūti, ziemelīti” (Blow, blow, north wind), complete with a stunning music video. The video, which features a painting created collaboratively by the group members, brings the artwork to life through the power of music.
“We wanted to capture the essence of a Latvian winter wonderland,” says soprano Beāte Krūmiņa. “The video and the song itself are a party of our cultural heritage, but with a modern twist.”
The album’s creation was a labor of love, spanning nearly two years. Latvian Voices once again collaborated with Los Angeles-based producer Andrew Kessler, known for his work with the a cappella group Accent. Kessler’s expertise as a composer, arranger, and jazz musician adds a unique dimension to the album’s sound.
