Laufey released the music video for her single Madwoman
on Monday, April 13, 2026. The project features a cast and crew primarily composed of Asian and Asian American talent, including actor Hudson Williams, Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu, KATSEYE member Megan Skiendiel, and actress Lola Tung.
The song is part of the deluxe edition of Laufey’s latest album, A Matter Of Time
. This edition introduces four new tracks and is available across physical formats and streaming services. The 26-year-old Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter previously performed Madwoman
live for the first time during her debut at Coachella.
Production and Casting
Directed by Warren Fu and filmed in Los Angeles, the music video is inspired by the aesthetic of Slim Aarons. The production was a collaboration with Gold House, with executive producers including Maiqi Qin and Christine Yi of Gold House, Julie Fong of Partizan Entertainment, and Oscar Tang, the co-founder of the Committee of 100. Andrew Truong served as the director of photography.

The cast includes Hudson Williams, known for Heated Rivalry
, and Lola Tung from The Summer I Turned Pretty
. In the video’s narrative, Williams portrays Laufey’s love interest, while Liu, Tung, and Skiendiel play the singer’s friends.
Laufey stated that the decision to assemble this specific group of talent was driven by a desire to provide the representation she felt was missing during her own upbringing in music and media.
Growing up, I felt a general lack of representation for people who looked like me in music and media. With the ‘Madwoman’ video, I wanted to be that representation. The result is what honestly feels like my absolute dream video and exactly what younger Laufey would have loved to see.

Visual Narrative and Themes
The video’s plot begins with the group gathering at a mansion for a pool day, where the four women wear bright-colored retro outfits and are served by butlers. Williams appears shirtless in swim trunks, drawing the attention of the other guests and staff.
The sequence transitions from a daytime choreography number to a nighttime setting. The narrative shifts to show Laufey and Williams pretending to be a happy couple for cameras while actually engaged in a dispute. This culminates in a proposal scene where Laufey fakes a smile while her friends look on.
The video concludes with a surreal sequence in which everyone except Laufey freezes during an engagement party. After an attempted escape, Laufey returns to the house to find her friends with robotic smiles and blank eyes welcoming her back to where Williams is waiting.
