Lauren Hemp has reached her 200th appearance for Manchester City at the age of 26, cementing a legacy that spans eight years and six major trophies according to BBC Sport. The England international achieved the milestone last Sunday as Manchester City began the defence of their Women’s Super League title with a 3-1 victory over newly promoted Birmingham City, a match in which she was named player of the match.

Hemp is only the fourth player in Manchester City’s history to reach the 200-appearance landmark, following former and current teammates Steph Houghton, Keira Walsh, and Demi Stokes. During the victory against Birmingham City, Hemp capped off her milestone by recording more entries in the final third than any teammate besides Gracie Prior, alongside 16 touches in the opposition box.

Since joining Manchester City from Bristol City as a teenager in 2018, Hemp has scored 74 goals in her 200 appearances according to Yahoo Sports. She has created more chances from open play than any other player in the history of the Women’s Super League and ranks second in the competition’s all-time assist charts. Only striker Khadija Shaw has scored more goals for City in the professional era.
Hemp’s individual accolades during her time in Manchester include a record fourth Professional Footballers’ Association young player of the year award in 2022, alongside three selections in the PFA team of the year. She was also awarded an MBE in 2024 for services to football and signed a three-year contract extension with City that same year, following a season where the club secured their first WSL title in a decade and won the Women’s FA Cup.
