Lauren London Opens Up: The Unforgettable Moment She Met Nipsey Hussle
Lauren London Recalls How She Met Nipsey Hussle
Lauren London recently revisited the chain of events that led to her meeting the late Nipsey Hussle. In an interview on the podcast “A Really Good Cry with Radi Devluky,” the actress shared how they met after her attempts to contact him failed.
London explained that she was on set and had heard about Nipsey’s Crenshaw mixtape, which all the girls on set were listening to. She thought it would be cool to give them his mixtape and other Crenshaw merchandise, so she reached out to her friend Danny to see if he could get a discount on the items. However, Nipsey never contacted her, and instead, his manager contacted her friend.
Despite not getting a discount, London bought the merchandise and gave it to the girls on set as a gift. She then followed Nipsey on social media, and he eventually DM’d her, thanking her for her support and offering to send her a personalized box. London shared that she thought Nipsey was “okay” at the time, but had an ulterior motive behind following him on social media.

London also paid a heartfelt tribute to Nipsey on the fifth anniversary of his murder earlier this year. In a post on Instagram, she shared that Nipsey spent the entire month of March dreading the day of his murder, which occurred in front of a Marathon Clothing store in 2019.
“If you know me, you know March is always a tough month for me,” she wrote. “Holding my breath for 31 days. This day is supposed to fall on Easter Sunday 2024. Interesting… When I think of your name #GodWillRise. Energy never dies. Love. Forever.”
Nipsey’s killer, Eric Holder Jr., was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison in February 2023, eight months after being convicted of shooting the rapper to death. Holder reportedly became angry when Nipsey accused him of being a snitch during a brief conversation outside a South LA clothing store.
London has been open about her grief and healing process since Nipsey’s passing. In an interview with People, she shared that she has to wake up every day with the intention of healing, but that it’s a difficult and ongoing process.
“I have to wake up every day with this intention. There are days when I don’t want to, and I get angry. That’s healing. Up and down, left and right, all around. You know what I mean? And every time there’s a new level, there’s something different.”
