LAX People Mover Testing Advances as Project Set to Open January 2026

LAX Automated People Mover Update

The LAX automated people mover is progressing well with increased funding and resumed work. Testing has started in the central terminal area, marking the first time the trains have crossed Sepulveda and Century Boulevards. The system is expected to open in January 2026.

Metro Ridership Growth

Metro has reported over one million weekday riders in October, achieving year-over-year growth for 23 consecutive months. Weekday ridership is nearly 84% of pre-pandemic levels from October 2019, while weekend ridership stands at 97.5%.
