Los Angeles – The highly anticipated LAX/Metro Transit Center, a key component ⁢in improving transportation to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), is slated to open June 6, Metro officials announced.

A New Link in the Metro ⁣system

Located near Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street, the station represents a critically important step toward ⁢connecting the airport with the regional rail network. The new station aims to provide⁤ a⁢ more seamless experience for travelers.

Hahn added, “and when LAX people Mover finally ​opens its doors, we will have​ an International airport that connects‍ people from the terminals with the outside world through Metro. Enhanced Connectivity and Features

According to Metro, the transit center will⁢ serve as a multimodal hub along ‌the K Line, enhancing access between Redondo Beach and the E (Expo) Line station at Crenshaw Boulevard. It will also provide a direct connection to the LAX​ automated people mover, expected to​ be operational by the end of the year.

With the opening of the new station, the‌ K Line will extend south from Westchester to Redondo Beach. The Metro C Line (Green), currently running⁤ between ​Redondo Beach ⁤and Norwalk, will shift its ⁣route to operate between Norwalk and a new Aviation/Century station, located south of ⁤the airport. Passengers will be able to transfer to the K Line at this station.

The new facility will also feature a multilevel bicycle center with secure parking, a pedestrian plaza,⁢ and designated areas for passenger pick-up and‍ drop-off, according to Metro. A dedicated bus plaza will also be available.

K ‍Line Expansion

Currently, the K Line operates only between⁤ Westchester⁤ and the E Line station in Crenshaw. The opening of the Aviation/96th Street station will mark​ a significant ​expansion of the K Line’s service area.
