School Lunch Gets a Makeover: Fresh, Local Ingredients Take Center Stage

Forget the mystery meat and soggy fries. School lunches across the district are getting a delicious and nutritious upgrade, thanks to the passionate efforts of Director of School Nutrition Services Randy Herman and his team.
“We’re committed to providing students with meals that not only taste grate but also fuel their bodies and minds,” Herman saeid. “That means focusing on fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.”
The department has been working closely with local farmers and suppliers to incorporate seasonal produce, lean proteins, and whole grains into the daily menu.This shift towards fresh, wholesome ingredients is already making a difference.
“The kids are loving the new options,” said cafeteria manager Sarah Jones.”We’re seeing less food waste and more empty plates. It’s rewarding to see them excited about healthy choices.”
