Alonso Celebrates Kubica’s Le Mans Victory: ‘good Day for Motorsport’

MONTREAL—fernando Alonso lauded Robert Kubica’s recent Le Mans 24 Hours victory as a triumph for the sport. Kubica, whose promising Formula 1 career was curtailed by a 2011 rally crash, secured the win as part of Ferrari’s team.
Alonso, a two-time Le Mans champion himself, emphasized the importance of Kubica’s achievement, given the challenges he has overcome. kubica had previously signed with Ferrari too partner with Alonso before his injury.
“I’m very happy for him,” Alonso said.“We talked a few times about how special that races and he deserves, to experience that… he’s a legend of our sport, and now he’s even more after winning Le mans in his career.”

Alonso added, “you know some of the pain that he went through with the accident and things like that, I think, today is a very happy day for motorsport.” He plans to congratulate Kubica personally.
Kubica’s victory at Le Mans coincides with the Canadian Grand Prix, a venue holding both notable highs and lows for him. In 2007, he survived a major crash there, suffering a concussion and sprained ankle. The following year, he achieved his first and only F1 win in Montreal.
